Clutch Away to/with a Touch of Class…

In all honesty, I have always been a woman who likes the carry all bags. The bigger the better for me has always been my statement. If I can carry everything in one bag, and let’s just say I carry a lot of excess then the better. I usually appreciate my big handbags when I travel because then I feel like I get more use out of them. I mean bags come in so many shapes and sizes like the saddlebag, hobos, shoulder bags, pocketbooks, backpacks etc and it’s all up to the occasion and the woman to decide what works for her. And let’s face it, a woman can never have too many bags or shoes, the two work hand in hand and a belt can help spice up a look and cinch in that waist.

Although I haven’t thrown out my big bags yet, I must say clutch purses are hot right now and have progressed in fabric, style and design and are maintaining their cute and stunning classic look. A clutch is an essential accessory in a woman’s closet and with that, it carries just the essentials on a need to basis. Clutch purses are not seen and/or used daily but rather in a situation when you have to carry very little that is supposed to help keep your fabulosity flowing through your little adventure. Clutch purses are meant to be clutched by the hand but a few features I love about them is that they can come with a detachable strap and/or chain which is a feature in its own right as you can use this bag in more than one way bottom-line to serve more than one look ; you can hang it around your wrist when out on the dance floor as you dance the night away without losing your bag when you’re tired of clutching onto it through your outing and there are some convertible clutches out on the market although I have not gotten my cute little fingers on one of these yet. I am learning that there is practicality in the clutch purses and that they are even more affordable at times than a shoulder bag. The clutches vary from hard case which is more of your very shiny satin like feel with probably a few crystals accented in the bag an accessory you want to have when attending a dressy affair; the oversized envelope clutch that I so love remember I am all about the bigger the better and yes I am guilty of still carrying a little extra stuff as you never know when you need what you carry along; the traditional and/or crayon mini-hardly can carry anything more than a lipstick and your keys and maybe classified as impractical but raises the cute outfit meter; metallic clutches, patent clutches and colourful clutches are definitely being morphed into so many looks, and cater to all womens' needs which I think is awesome and they are available everywhere. I can’t say that I have purchased a clutch to suit my style in SA yet although I would suggest Banana Republic at Stuttafords for the medium to high end look, and Forever New and/or YDE in Sandton for a more affordable accessory store.

I hope all you ladies are inspired to go out and get a clutch you can work into your closet, or add to ones you may already have. Think of it as being part of the finishing touch to an all put together look, it’s an item that one can use when dressed to the nines or when simply being casual chic… It’s certainly another worthwhile investment. As always I’ll see you on the streets of Jozi as you clutch away in your hand a colour, a design, or a convertible pattern I may want to comment on and say “Where did you get that clutch?”
