Being On The A List - MAKING NAIL COLOR LAST
A few months ago I mentioned how much I love Essie nail colours from the post of nail colours I like and have recently purchased as a result. I mean I still use my Revlon and Opi colours but Essie just has more of a variety that I am into right now. Only snag with Essie is they JUST DON’T LAST sadly enough and as a result I paint my nails a few times a week just to keep them looking good. I’ve been on a mission to figure out a way to make them last and so far, this is the best option I found and thought I ought to share with everyone.
Here Are My Few Tips:
1. As I will share in my Sharing Is Caring – Words That May Touch Your Heart Post, I am getting quite good at giving myself manicures. I’ll admit while in the US, I got them done at the various nail spots, SA is just recently catching up I feel with amazing places such as Sorbet on the rise. I suggest after giving oneself a good manicure and buffing ones nails clean of dirt and oils, is the best way to get the process going.
2. There after use a base coat which will help the colour adhere to your nails easily. Make sure that you wait for this coat to dry properly before moving onto step 3. The worst part would be rushing the process and having to repeat everything all over again when you see a smudged nail fingernail or two.
3. When the base coat is dry enough, and you’ve picked out your pretty colour such as my new favourite Essie’s A LIST, proceed to painting on the 1st coat using your brush making sure that there is just enough nail polish on the brush to cover the nail. Place the brush directly in the center of your nail and continue painting towards the right and then left of the nail there-after. Make sure the nail is covered properly with little to no streaks. After a few minutes of letting the coat dry from painting your other hand, proceed with the 2nd coat as you did the previous one using the awesome colour. Please also paint the ridge of the nail, I must admit it helps the colour from chipping too soon. And as women we all like long lasting anything to help minimise time spent on going through with the same process over and over again.
4. Onto the final step, use the top coat for the finishing. I love nails that just glisten. Please be sure only to use 1 coat of this otherwise you’ll be drying your nails for forever and a day. I guess buying a dryer for ones nails may not be a bad idea after all. Let’s just say beauty takes a while, but it’s worth it for the perfect nail sometimes. (Twinkles – wink)
