In Winter Wonderland – The Polo-necks

Image
I am certain we all grew up watching our mothers take to knitting back in the day and we have witnessed knitwear grace centuries of fashion. While most of us may favour the ever comfortable, fashionable and affordable crewneck and V-neck sweater in the cooler months and in formal or informal settings; some of the people in my age group have parents who relished the fifties and brought style into the decade to the streets in the sixties with the Polo-neck that has been made iconic by the likes of Audrey Hepburn and they will beg to differ in the sophistication this knitwear offers. One thing I like about polo-necks is that they are unisex, classless and not body-shape specific (although men only wore these in the beginning) but now everyone can rock that style with their own flair. It’s certainly a warmer substitute to the long-sleeved shirt and it certainly took that stance when it was used as a substitute to the usual shirt and tie and was still considered smart. This amazing style ca...

Clutch Away to/with a Touch of Class…

In all honesty, I have always been a woman who likes the carry all bags. The bigger the better for me has always been my statement. If I can carry everything in one bag, and let’s just say I carry a lot of excess then the better. I usually appreciate my big handbags when I travel because then I feel like I get more use out of them. I mean bags come in so many shapes and sizes like the saddlebag, hobos, shoulder bags, pocketbooks, backpacks etc and it’s all up to the occasion and the woman to decide what works for her. And let’s face it, a woman can never have too many bags or shoes, the two work hand in hand and a belt can help spice up a look and cinch in that waist. Although I haven’t thrown out my big bags yet, I must say clutch purses are hot right now and have progressed in fabric, style and design and are maintaining their cute and stunning classic look. A clutch is an essential accessory in a woman’s closet and with that, it carries just the essentials on a need to basis. Clutch...

The Scarf…….

So I have always been a savvy shopper and always wanted to find more than one way of wearing an outfit. I wanted to always transform a look with anything I could find, be it a belt, purse, stockings, jewellery, or mixing and matching colours. This is where I say my mum should have definitely had me sit by the sewing machine when I was younger so I could learn the tricks of the needle and thread. In any case, I am grateful she put me onto fashion and I guess I have styling down and am always perfecting that art….. Might I suggest we all watch “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, now I am not confessing to being a shopaholic although I do qualify myself as a savvy shopper, and believe we all have it within us to be just that? After watching the said movie, it inspired me to write on my love for scarfs…. Now I am not saying that we all should empty our bank accounts over an accessory such as a scarf whether it is Cashmere or a Pashmina (silk, wool, viscose etc). This little accessory comes in v...

A woman can never have too many bags and/or shoes. It's as though the two work hand in hand. A great pair of shoes and an amazing bag can help recreate a whole look... Being bold with color and or design is never a bad idea either... I say explore and let your imagination boldly take you to the limits... It's an item that can be carried while you are dressed to the nines, and while you simply are casual chic... Worth the investment!!!
