A Little Touch of Lady....
In today’s society the meaning of being a lady is more over looked than not. I would like to say I have always have been a lady since I transformed from the tomboy moth to the lady butterfly. I’ve always told myself of course echoing from the words of my mother that a lady is not just defined by age, but also the morals and principles one stands by, the actions we take on our life’s journeys, how we carry ourselves and yep clothing has a role to play in all this be it in a casual look or at a black tie event. I am not saying we should look older than what we are and cover up from neck to toes, but we should be put together as a woman who appreciates her reputation but understands the importance of her character. I always say a lady is one who demonstrates class in all she does and acts appropriately given the time and place. It’s simply being a woman who understands her worth. ~ RJPD.
1. Lipstick
Lipstick is one of those things I certainly didn’t like at all until I was past being a teenager given the whole being a tomboy phase I had so comfortably gotten used to as my way of life. I am sure I passed up on the being 6 and trying on mummy’s heels and make-up that all little girls love to do without batting an eye. Since those years are far behind me now I have fallen in love with lipstick. Its a little excuse I use as being an eye catcher I always say, but to be honest I just love to have a kissable pout and bold color always makes for the best show case on the lips than anywhere else on ones face. Red is always my staple be it summer, winter or fall although I also try burgundy, wine, plums, raspberry etc. Summer I tend to dance around a little more with nudes and pinks.... I just love color on my lips for the most part as it looks better seeing as I feel my lips are a little on the darker side than most.
2. The Perfect Shoe
I love amazing shoes... Bottom-line I qualify as a shopaholic period and if I can prance around in pretty shoes as I walk with more confidence, sass and all the trimmings of being a lady then so be it. Granted I have traded in my penny loafers (MJJ got me hooked with he’s loafer shoe game) and menswear inspired shoes for my heels. Shoes can typically “make” or “break” an outfit. Currently I am obsessing over the CL Nude Pigalle. I so need to get a pair. Nude just seems to match with everything and has just enough of a touch of elegance that I gravitate towards. I digress. So I have a few flats that I wear on occasion but a sexy stiletto never hurt anyone. In fact it may have got you noticed. If I could have a shoe closet a mile long I so would without giving it a second thought.
3. A Good Bag
I am crazy over a few bag brands at the moment, Fossil, YSL, and Coach. LV, Celine, Chanel, Zara, Tory Burch you name it I am either ordering it online or adding it to my wish list. A good bag doesn’t have to break the bank, but it should make a statement and be of use. I love that a bag is something that shows your personality through shape, texture, and color all of my favorite things to punctuate any look and well the trends are so amazing. Coach , Chanel and Fossil so far have my heart on the vintage bags. I’ve written about clutches in a previous post a few years ago please read through it, I have a liking to clutches when I don’t feel like carrying a big bag. What I absolutely love about my bags is that they hold my daily essentials (wallet, phone, sunglasses, lipstick, hand cream, and, and, and, the list is endless). Now you can’t beat that. Everything is neatly tucked away and no one will know that you carried everything and the kitchen sink in there – I Love Bags!!! I’ll share a few new purchases I made at Fossil via Macy’s. They are awesome.
4. Jewelry
Let’s just say Swarovski is on my mind constantly lately. They just have so many little pretty things I cannot get enough of. I have collections upon collections of their jewels and it doesn’t look like I’ll take a break anytime soon. They have dainty little day to day pieces and some bold ones for those days you really want to sparkle. Zara is also giving awesome options for the statement necklaces I am into and love to pair especially during the winter months over my knitted tops. I just find that even when you’re wearing a t-shirt with jeans or leggings if you have a little sparkle it just pulls ones look together and actually upgrades it somewhat even if you’re wearing flats or pumps. Jewelry is " Just a little touch of lady" I always say. ~ RJPD
I have given a few options of brands I like and owned over the years but I have many more that you might see and want to know where I buy so please feel free to ask. I can't wait to share options...
